Hello! My name is Albert.
I know there are a lot of members who knows lots about renting cars at Hertz and other things.
I am planning to rent a car to make a trip to Vegas this weekend(saturday - monday).
I joined the Hertz #1 gold club after reading threads about waiving underage driver fee, since i am only 22.
The first time i made a reservation for a mid-size car, it showed underage fee of $45. However, when I made a changed to a different car, and changed back to mid-size car, underage fee is gone and instead there is 'CDP NAME: Gold family discount program'. Does that mean the undersage fee is waived now? I am confused and still on the last step to pay.
Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance!

You need to log out and back in if you were already logged in. From the gold family page

PLEASE NOTE: If you are logged into hertz.com and wish to enroll a child or immediate family member, you must first log-out and paste this URL address, www.hertz.com/goldfamily, into your web browser to gain access to the fee waived enrollment form.

So if the fee is not there, you should be fine now.

i hope there is no extra charges, when i pay at the counter. Also one more thing, do i have to bring in my printed #1 gold club paper card to show it to them?
My total came out to be $105 for mazda 6 or similar(sat 10am- mon6pm) including LDW for 3days. I have looked around and by far this is the cheapest. If anyone knows of a better deal, let me know!

You actually pay on your return, at the counter they just put a hold on your credit card.

When you go to the counter, all you need is your license and your credit card. They will process you as a first time gold renter (they probably have a gold counter, it will say on your confirmation what the level of service is) and any rentals after that you just pick up the car, show your license and off you go.

When the car is returned, they will scan it back in and the receipt there will be the total paid. Not sure how it works for the underage fee, but Hertz has a nasty habit of showing you a much higher price because all the discounts and coupons or whatever are not applied until you return and they process the car. So don't freak if the initial contract they give you is higher, just ask what discounts you will be getting.

As long as their system has you as gold, you do not need to bring them a card.

Thank you for your fast reply. BTW i signed up using an ATM/Debit card, because i don't have a credit card. Are they going to give me a hassel for not having a credit card?

When they swipe your debit card they will ask for your permission to run an Equifax credit check. You have to agree if you want to rent. The check takes about three seconds to complete. If the system accepts your score then the rental will proceed like any other. If it rejects it then it will print out something saying how they are sorry and if you want more information then to contact Equifax.

They never told us what the exact minimum score was but we believed it was around 650 or so.

If it rejects your score then there is absolutely nothing that can be done with your debit card. No one has the authority to override that system.
