I got a call this AM from Robert offering me another "opportunity of a lifetime". I told him I asked twice in the past to be removed from their call list. He said they have no call list but if they ever start one............he would remove my name. Oh yes there seemed to be many other calls going on in the background.

I give up.

Yep, I feel your pain - I got one at work the other day. Before the gentlemen started in on his pitch, I politely asked him to remove my name from the list. Then I explained to him how my last stay at the Hilton in Columbia, MD went and asked him if he thought that was representative of Hilton's customer service policy and if what occurred was right (my post about it is on here if you get curious). When he said no, I told him when Hilton resolved that issue I would consider providing them my patronage.

Update:

Two more calls between 600-700 PM in the last couple of days from the "World Headwaters of HGVC...................". How does one stop this harrassment.

Try telling them just to hold on for a minute, put the phone down and then leave them hanging on for an hour or so - they'll soon get sick then:D

I got mine today. He told me it wasn't time share, it was vacation ownership. And that Hilton wouldn't want to risk my loyalty over vacation ownership. Then, he mispronounced my name. It was kinda cute.

:( How come Hilton hasn't called me with the opportunity of a lifetime? (My lifetime? The caller's lifetime? Hilton's lifetime?) What don't they like me?

Seriously: I wonder if I got blacklisted. About five years ago, we milked the HGVC/MVCI preview gravy train every chance we were allowed to do so. Starwood, for whatever reason, has never dangled anything enticing for me. Even when I expressed interest in their Puerto Vallarta property (we were staying at the Westin already), they had little interest in me.

Why on earth does anyone give Hilton (or any other hotel chain) their real phone number? I'm very diligent about checking e-mail. Whatever they want me to know, that's how they can reach me. The phone number in my HHonors account belongs to an address I left in 2003 and our home phone is unlisted.

You could make the case for giving it to an airline if you thought they might care enough to call if a flight were delayed. I can't picture a hotel having to get to you that urgently.

I have given a VoIP number to all three of the big chains.

Why? Bait for timeshare salesmen, of course.

All of our phones are on the federal do not call list and it has been effective over the years. Some calls do get through though.

I did get the call from HGVC a couple of weeks ago. I also got a call from Regent Seven Seas Cruise Lines. The offer of 'unlimited shore excursions' was only good through the end of the day. Now where have I heard that before?

"28. If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?

No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. "

"Existing business relationship" includes affiliates(e.g., HHonors and HGVC). :td:

If they keep calling you can always do something like this with the telemarketer, everytime I hear it I still laugh

I wouldn't consider purchasing from them either if they couldn't pronounce "Mike" :D

Just got this call last night.. 8:30pm ! these people have no shame. they aren't easily brushed off, either.. I kept saying 'no' and the person wouldn't hang up. I finally said that I only stayed at Starwood hotels.. she didn't recognize the name "Starwood".

Another fantastic tool for use with telemarketers was the "Telecrapper 2000." The designs have been off the internet for a while because the designer received threats from the sweat shops. However, at least one of the computer automated calls is still available on this flash demo.
