Dam. Thanks for the reply.
I knew that MPO club members were eligible at some stage to register.
Hope it isn't all that busy when I'm arriving.

According to the ad MPO SL or above can go to "Immigration Enrollment Office" at the airport to apply for E-Channel Pass (by giving finger prints, etc.) However, when I was at HKIA I first asked airport "ambassadors" and she told me it's outside. Then I went outside and ask Information and they have no idea, then I stopped a police and asked him and he impatiently told me it's inside.

HKIA now allows elite pax of most major airlines to register for the E-chanel program. You do not need to provemany flights in HKIA anymore.

Details here: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/20041216.htm#fv
But as stated, this involves a registration process at HKIA after you next arrive during which they will take fingerprints & photos. If you're a frequent visitor to HK (and don't mind them having a copy of your fingerprints) then it makes sense, but if you only come infrequently I can't see the point really.

Some people just like to skip lines.

I have the frequent visitor pass and go straight through using my fingerprint to save time but to be honest HKG has one of the faster passport control anywhere I visit in the world. You need to spend about half a hour to get one but once you have it you have the best of both worlds if the lines are full

The lines are ALWAYS full when I visited HKG. Not to mention a specific demographic of people like to cut in line, now most of the time they get caught, however, I witnessed a few times that they don't and it boils my veins.
However, now that I have the frequent visitor card I care less about that, but just want to mention I have never seen HKG custom lines NOT full to the teeth.

Last time I arrived at 0600 into HKG, it was like Ghost Town, I thought I'd landed in the wrong airport :p, Compared to the afternoon lines it was luxury.

ImmD's target (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/pledge_p4_1.htm) is to clear 92% of visitors at the airport within 15 minutes, and they claim (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/pledge_p3.htm) that in 2008 they achieved this target. It seems reasonable to me.

It's not HKIA Airport Authority's fault, in case any of you want to blame someone. Send feedback to the Immigration Department urging them to improve clearance at HKIA thru http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/contactus.htm. It will benefit everyone.^

go to the small Immigration office near Gate 1 arrival area
do the procedure
they will adhere a bar code on your passport
you can then use the scanner function alongside the HK resident auto clearance gates
it takes 10 seconds
welcome to the first world
