Qantas Frequent Flyer - Premium Economy rollout for 2-class 744s?

Someone else asked this question a few months ago but received no clear answer so I'll try again. Does anyone know when (or whether) the 2-class 744s will get premium economy seats? Routes like SYD-SFO and AKL-LAX are still using the J cabin for W pax but I'm planning my travel for next year and I'd love to know how much longer that will be the case.

There seems to be no way to view the seat map of a particular qantas flight until after you've booked and paid for it, so I'm trying to make educated guesses. A useful piece of info would be whether there any 3-class 744s with no first class (i.e. just Y, W & J)? If not -- if it's either 2-class or 4-class -- then the absence of F on a flight would be one way of telling that the aircraft has no premium economy seats.

If anyone has any info, hints, tips or workarounds on this, I'd appreciate it.

As you suspect there are no 3-class 744s without F class. In fact, there no longer any 3-class 744s at all.

All of Qantas's Jumbos are either four class or two class, with the two class planes all being J and Y.

It's just that sometimes routes are sold as three class (J, Y+, Y), with part of each booking class getting a seat upgrade if it's a 4 class plane, and only Y+ getting a seat upgrade if it's a 2-class plane.

As for Y+ seat roll-out on current 3-class planes, I don't know, I'll leave that to more knowledgable folk.

I thought QF73 SYD-SFO was 2 class (it was when I flew it Dec08), but I've just booked for Mar10 and it now looks to be 4 class.

Hi all,

The PE roll out onto the 2 class B744s has been suspended due to the GFC. No 2 class aircraft feature PE, all other B744s have PE already fitted.

Now does anyone know if the 2 class 744s have the new Y class seat covers (Red) plus the new carpets and curtains like all the other 744s? Has anyone recently flowen on a 2 class bird recently and noticed?

Thanks

No new fabrics on the 2 class 744s.

For what it's worth, I am flying SYD - SFO - SYD in Jan 10. The seating plan for the flight out shows it's the 4 class 747 with 255 Y seats. The flight back is showing it's the 4 class 747 with 187 Y seats.

As far as I know, first class is not being sold on this route and on the flight back, some of the Y+ seats are available to Y passengers.
