Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Great FA service, above and beyond.

I am a DL plat and never flying anything but DL. However, flew a Horizon twin prop SEA-YYC and before takeoff the FA came upfront asking for 4 people to take a seat in the back of the plane to balance weight issues. (Didn't make me feel all that comfortable with the flight but anyway.)
Not being fussed with being in row 1 bulkhead on this tiny plane I moved to the back no problem. I guess it was harder to find 3 other volunteers. Anyway the FA came 3 times to thank me for moving back and on the third time offered me 1000 miles, or choice of $5 retail card. This was so unexpected and unnecessary, yet such a nice touch.
I have had to move seats on DL planes without so much as a thank you in some cases. Great job Horizon/AS, it was such a welcome change from the norm, I just may look outside of the norm more often.^^^

AS likes to refer to that sort of service as "North of Expected." I personally find that the attitudes and demeanor of airline employees can greatly affect my flying experience, even in cases where the (seating assignment/upgrade/long lines/whatever) are exactly the same. It's one reason I keep as much travel as I can on AS. Ironically, SLC is the one destination I fly to regularly that AS doesn't have service to.
In any case, glad you had such a pleasant experience, and hopefully you'll have the opportunity to fly on AS/QX in the future. Thanks for dropping by to tell us about it!

That's what keeps me coming back. As I said in a post a few months ago, I find myself building my vacation plans around the AS route map. I hadn't been to Hawaii in 20 years, but I bought a ticket shortly after AS announced service there (we're going back to another island in 2010 on AS). I realize that sounds crazy to alot of people, but I'm sure at least some participants in this forum know what I'm talking about.

In some cases Im even willing to pay a little more(not a lot more ) and ride AS and receive better service. Even contemplating remaining with AS even when I relocate MSN or MKE where the closest AS served city is 83 miles away primarily for their service level. Id rather go 75 miles to ORD to ride with AS FAs and be on a 738 than go 5 miles to MKE and ride an ancient DC9 with NW...with laptop playing pilots:D(couldnt resist) , US Scareways, or a valuje....cough airtran airways cattle chute

I hope you grabbed one of those customer comment cards that QX usually has in the seat back pocket and forwarded your comments to those with the larger paychecks. Upper management does recognize employees when they get feedback from passengers.
