Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - star alliance awards

I am thinking of using my KRISFLYER points to go from NY to hkg. I notice with the star alliance award I should be able to do this for 130,000 in first, taking United to the west coast and Singapore to HKG, however is the award not valid on the 777?

If you redeem a Star Alliance award using KF miles, it's by definition on *A carriers other than SQ. If you use KF miles on SQ itself, it's the SQ/Silkair Award Charts that apply.

I don't know of any way to mix the two, but if SQ allows it (that is, part of a *A redemption with an itinerary including flight(s) on their own metal as well as another/other *A carrier(s)), then the *A redemption is "Saver Award" in SQ-speak, and wouldn't be valid in the F cabin on SQ 1/2.

I think you could use UA for the entire trip, though -- including the SFO - HKG legs in both directions.
