New to the forum. Planning a trip from MIA-LHR-GLA in July. The MIA-LHR is in UC on Virgin but the connecting flight LHR-GLA is on British Airways. Does anyone know if Virgin will check ones bags through to GLA, without having to claim them at baggage claim and then recheck them?
Thanks

Does one have to clear Customs/Immigration at FIRST port of call in the UK?

Hi,

Do you have one ticket or two?

One ticket- bags will e checked through.

Two tickets- bags may be checked through ( VS Do not have to do it)

If your bags are checked through you will collect them at GLA .

You will have passport control at LHR

I have two separate tickets. One on Virgin for the roundtrip MIA-LHR-MIA. The other flight LHR-GLA-LHR is on BA. I know about passport control and everything, I was just hoping Virgin would check my bags through LHR so I didn't have to go claim baggage in LHR and re-check to GLA. I imagine I'll be changing terminals in LHR from Virgin to BA.
Thanks for your input.

Virgin may not check your bags through for you as it's on a seperate ticket. BA's policy (for the return trip) is that they only check through on one ticket, or on another ticket if the second airline is a Oneworld member.

Therefore you're at the mercy of the check-in agent in MIA.

And yes, you will be changing terminals (VS operate from Terminal 3 at LHR, BA from Terminal 5 for the GLA flights)
