Qantas Frequent Flyer - QF Frequent Flyer (legal?) points transfers.
Hi.
Can anyone advise me on the legality (or otherwise) of the following scenario.
Mrs. QFF transferred 5000 points to Mr. QFF's account 6 months ago.
Mrs. QFF cannot transfer any further points to Mr.QFF for a further 6 months.
Mr. QFF cannot transfer the points back to Mrs. QFF.
However can Mr. QFF transfer the points to Miss. QFF whereupon Miss. QFF transfers the points to Mrs. QFF ?
As far as I interpret the rules, it would appear to be acceptable but I would not like to get a black mark against my future bookings for fear of being relegated to a cage in the freight compartment. (And yes that has happened to Mrs. QFF on one occasion) !
Thanks QFF

From your description, that does sound correct and allowed by the rules.
The main thing that Qantas doesn't like is people selling/transferring/redeeming points/flights to people for money.

It will work
The rules state
(d) once Points have been transferred, the transfer cannot be reversed or cancelled by either the Member transferring the Points or the recipient
The term would read to me that it would be valid under the terms since you would not technically be reversing the transfer. I would not be worried about QF investigating anyway unless you do lots of points transfers/buying awards for other people

No reason why Mr QFF cannot transfer the points BACK to Mrs QFF directly.
The rules state that the transfer cannot be reversed or cancelled. To reverse or cancel would mean the parties are back in the original position as if a transfer had never been made (ie the 12 months rule wold be reset and you'd free to gift away).
Mr QFF sending points back to Mrs QFF is not reversing or cancelling the original transfer. It wouldbe using up the right to make a points transfer for the next 12 months.
So if Mr QFF was to give Mrs QFF points, neither Mr QFF or MRs QFF could make another transfer until their 12 months had run out (compared to reversing a transfer where the points would go back and both parties would be free to make another tranfer...)
Hope that's clear :)

As other said, there shouldn't be a problem. And even if there is, just ask QF, I found them to be quite flexible with this rule in the past and they approved transfers which were outside the T&Cs for me.

It is indeed not a problem. I leant a family member some 20,000 points for an upgrade as they did not have enough. Upon them having gotten the 20,000 back from flying, they simply did a transfer back to me. Was a matter of 4-6 weeks from the time I transferred them to the time they were transferred back to me (same amount of points). No problems (this was around 18 months ago now).

This isn't the bus you're looking for.
He can go about his business.
Move along.
