Hey there all! I am traveling MCO to MDW on Saturday (Halloween) on Southwest and was wondering what to expect. I know that Southwest has the most entertaining and friendly staff in the airline industry and thought that it might not be the normal flying experience.

Any idea?

Well I know that you can expect a free drink. That's being advertised on the beverage menus in the seat-back pockets. Other than that, no idea.

WN likes to "own the holidays," so I bet you'll see some Employees in costume. I have yet to see anything from MCO or MDW, but hopefully you'll see some decorated gates, perhaps even something like this one from LAX:

Perhaps most important flying out of MCO is you can expect a free adult beverage. Perhaps a Bloody Mary after playing a game of Bloody Mary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_(folklore)) in the lavatory (sans candle, of course)?

that's cute!

the only time i've flown WN on a holiday was around the 4th of July....through HOU and, hmm...TPA i think.....

All the desks and ticket counters had little decorations...apparently the gates had a contest for "best dressed...." since we, as pax, got to vote!!! and they gave out lots of WN Swag too!

Last year I flew out of OAK on 10/31. There were 3 or 4 gates decorated quite elaborately and many GA's in costume. I don't remember the FA's being in costume.

FAs are no longer in full costumes, i.e. masks, post 9/11.

I sat next to a deadheading FA last week and she said many FAs are really pissed about the TSA saying no to masks/costumes.

I saw that thing in LAX last week and was very impressed. Its eyes weren't lit up though. OAK didn't have anything up last Saturday.

Flew through DAL last year on Halloween. LOTS of employees dressed up, giving out free candy, and having a good time.

No, but I'll bet you'll be surrounded by a bunch of engineers and physicists going home from the Nuclear Science Symposium (me included) wishing the FAs could liven that trip up a bit. Something appropriately geeky like being asked what the 8th digit to the right of the decimal point in pi is, and if you're geeky enough to know, you get a second free drink. Or the FAs could have pocket protectors, nerd glasses and slide rules.

Nearly empty flights... (at least the first two of four segments today were... less than 40 PAX each...)

(Back and forth MCI - STL today, [double] credit run)
