KLM Flying Dutchman - best way to buy flight to HOU from AMS on airmiles ?

Hi I have FB Plat card and 500,000 miles.
I want to fly my wife over to HOU with me on my next bus trip. When I looked on the FB web site the cost was 200,000 miles and €400 for a return B Clas ticket in November.

Is this the best I can hope to do ??

I assume by "B class" you mean C (as in biz). (A B fare is coach.)

According to the FB miles finder, a standard award in biz AMS-HOU is 100k. You may be seeing 200k because for those dates only the "flex" award is available, which is double the mileage. When exactly are you flying? It may be either too early or too late. More award seats are typically released as you get closer to the date, but if you are too close there may not be any left.

How flexible are you in terms of itinerary? The SkyTeam options should be plentiful, with all the DL/NW gateways. You may have to call the service desk and ask them to look more into it, but if you have a set itinerary and want your wife to join you on a particular set of flights, you may be SOL.

Right now for 11/7 it shows J9 C5 I0 and for 11/21 J9 C0 I5. IME direct flights are always harder to get than connections. Your best bet is to keep checking. Check several times a day as award inventory is volatile. Biz awards do open up close to the departure date, but you're already pretty close. You may be SOL, but keep trying.
