Flying Blue (Air France & KLM) - Using miles to book a Kyriad (Louvre) hotel?

After being frustrated with the price of taxes when thinking of using my miles for a couple of flights I am thinking about getting rid of quite a few with a hotel booking with Kyriad (Louvre) hotels. I was thinking of staying in Paris for 4 nights and on KLM its saying 25,000 miles per night. I just wonder if anyone had done this and did it go smoothly?

Presumably I have to -
Convert the miles to a voucher presumably (a hassle?)
Can you normally get the hotel you want? (I dont want to convert my miles to vouchers to find I cant booking anything)

The Kyriad web site says you do the following (which suggests you show the voucher at the hotel but need a code to book?)

2. Trade miles for a stay at the participating Campanile, Kyriad and Kyriad Prestige hotels in France: 25,000 miles for a one-night stay in a double room for 2, including breakfast.

This offer is available in participating hotels, upon reservation at the following number (+33)164628160 and by mentioning your Flying Blue code. This offer is also subject to hotel’s availability and upon exchange of one Flying Blue voucher per night. Extras will be paid at the hotel.

OK looks like nobody has tried this with Kyriad (I have also e-mailed the company and the hotel directly for the procedure but no reply yet). I am wondering now if anybody has booked anything using the Flying Blue Vouchers and how well it went? I am just wondering what the procedure would be with a hotel - give them a credit card number until you arrive with the flying blue voucher in case you dont turn up?

IMO, redeem air miles (FB in that case) for hotel stays is poor value.

Same applies IMO for car rental.

I would tend to agrea. However a stay in a Paris Kyriad is around 100 euro's a night (its 25,000 miles for a one night stay). So for 100,000 miles I am saving 400 euros in theory. Like I say because of tax on the flights I cant see me using for anything else anytime soon unfortunatly.

and should add because 1 euro is roughly £1 at the moment Europe is expensive for paying in Euros at the moment for us in the UK..

Just an update on this - as it all seems a bit "chicken and egg"...

I rang the hotel call centre in France. I was firstly told I could not book the hotel without having my Flying Blue voucher code. Because I dont have this yet I checked availability anyway for a hotel next April for 4 nights. The hotel was not available although another in Paris was. I asked if this was because the hotel was full but it was just full as far as how many rooms can be used for Flying Blue - suprised given how many months ahead.
The problem I now have is I can fill in the Fying Blue form, tell them how many points I need, fax it and maybe get it back in 14 days. However by the time I get it back the other hotel might be full and I am stuck with 100,000 miles stuck in a voucher!.. Seems a shame you cant just print your voucher online!
