On my last flight into DXB our plane parked away from the terminal. No bridge. Were bussed back from the Flower Terminal to T3. On the way over I noticed that for some reason there is a pretty large number of cars (all over the airport, and not just sports cars) sitting on the tarmac, all packed and ready to be flown out. It was truly amazing. It just didn't make sense...
How much would it cost anyway, to check in my car at the airport??

What's going on? Are these the cars they are shipping out to the "Win a luxury car"-raffle winners?? Or maybe these are the 'abandoned cars in Dubai' the London tabloids keep writing about? Or maybe the global economic downturn has made it really affordable for people to take their car with them on their holidays to the other side of the world?

Not sure- and never seen before (except one Lamborghini arriving).
If in the past week - could it be for the F1 race in Abu Dhabi- support vehicles?

Yup, that must be it. I think there were quite a few demonstration vehicles too,... cause there were a lot of "compact cars" amongst them.
I was just wondering.
Problem solved.
Thx.
