I need about 8K miles to hit Delta/NW Platinum. Considering the following, would appreciate any thoughts - this would be my first mileage run. I will make up the <2,000 miles on some other trip by the end of the year to hit Platinum.
I see the IAD - SFO run, but working in BUF makes it tough.
Thanks in advance
12/14: BUF - JFK - SLC - PDX: 2,954 MQM
12/15: PDX - JFK - BUF: 3,119 MQM
6,073 MQM Total
$250 or $0.04/MQM
This thread is more suitable for the discussion subforum. Good luck with your first MR!

What is the connection time in JFK between arriving from BUF and leaving for SLC?
In December they will most likely need to de-ice the plane in BUF before it takes-off and this can really delay the flight because they de-ice the planes right near the gate... So if there is a plane using the gate right before yours, yours will probably not leave on time...also JFK in winter is ALWAYS a roll of the dice...
So that would be my biggest concern... 4 cpm is good good, not great...but if it will put you over PLT than probably worth it...
BTW Have you tried pricing any other trips from BUF, like to SAN or LAX or SFO?

Layover was about 50 mins. I did look into SAN, LAX, SFO, SEA, and didn't see much except for one to LAX.
Point taken on the weather, I may switch to a BUF - ATL - LAX for the same price per mile.
The wife thinks I am nuts.

join the club. this is quite common and generally persists until the fruit of your labors gets shared with them. my wife finally got it when she noticed that we boarded just after F or sat up front on most domestic flights and finally got to share biz class seats TATL at discount Y pricing

Everyone thinks I'm nuts...but then when they need advice or hear see my pictures they sing a different tune....
If BUF-ATL-LAX works for you and is same cpm, might want to consider it... JFK/BUF is just a real roll of the dice in winter....
