Last week I went Atlanta .Dallas LAX on American Airlines connecting to CX to HKG
Having been through the terrible overcrowded security check at Atlanta I looked forward to a oneworkd airside transfer to the Intl terminal. Not so, If you are transferring American to Qantas they have a bus for you so you stay airside. Not so CX. You have to exit Terminal 4 and go through the security check again at the international terminal. Seems Qantas pay for the service and CX does not care to do so.:td:

Actually, there's more to the story as regards QF. It depends on which flight you're taking, -- some depart from T4 at LAX, but others depart from TBIT. See details here (http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/airport-guide-los-angeles/global/en). In any case, you are correct about LAX T4. There is no airside transfer from T4 to TBIT. AFAIK, all CX flights depart LAX from TBIT.

I never did that. I am a little confused. Did OP mean bus transfer airside from T4 to TBIT for AA to QF?

I think so. If you do down the escalator from T4 arrival to ground transportation, you will see a sign saying bus transfer for QF flights before the long hallway to baggage claim. Just saw the sign today :)

I don't think this is anything to do with AA. It's simply a QF thing - the QF flight from JFK-LAX-SYD arrives and departs from T4, but some QF people need to transfer from the JFK-LAX flight to other QF flights, all of which depart from TBIT. So the reason for the transfers is primarily QF-QF. QF also pays part of the cost of the lounges in T4 because of this flight (the Flagship lounge there being quite good).

CX has no reason to do anything like this.

QF provide that service, there's not much to stop a CX passenger from getting on the bus and just saying they're flying with QF.
IMOE, don't bother.
Just walk to TBIT and clear securiy again.
Buses only run one every 30mins and these are full with AA offloaders, often being told just wait for the next bus...
QF 26 to AKL, QF16 to BNE are the only ones from T4. All others arr/dep TBIT.
