Went on line tonight to make some reservations. Found out I was spending the night in an HI in Orlando this evening, and that I had made the reservation earlier today. (I''m in Connecticut)
Called the Priority Club 800# where the guy actually dumped me when he didn't know what to do. Got a Supervisor and we called the hotel. I told the MOD that if there is someone in that room traveling under my name, I want the police called immediately.
Bottom line - they checked someone in and typed in a wrong PC # - mine. Now they are trying to find out if the room was charged to my card on file or not. They will call me back in the morning. The night manager doesn't know how to do that.
And I was feeling so special after my top 1% letter. I feel so betrayed.
BTW, they told me it happens more than people know. I bet.
I would not worry until the credit card bill comes.
If they did not charge you, great. You earned one qualifying night and points.
If they did charge you, great, you have a case as fraud against them.
Normally, it is their responsibility to check the credit card number upon check -in. I doubt if your credit card is on file. Because the clerk had to double check again the credit card on arrival.
So they made the reservation. Maybe due to the same name, they choose the wrong profile. After afterwards they need to put the credit card number manually or swipt into the system.
So I would not let the matter to bother my life. Just wait and see. It is just one simple mistake by put the wrong profile to another person. Again they will check credit card info by reception, so do not worry. Wait and see.
My feeling is same as IC6A.
Actually I would like someone to stay on my PC# and pay the bill to get more points.

I want to take you all up on your kind offers. The email I got said that the reservation would automatically be charged to the credit card on file in the PC account with my number. That was why I was so upset. But you will have advance warning.
So, if you would be so kind as to supply your PC number, I'll get busy and start on those reservations.

I have a VERY common first and last name and live in a large metro area, so I am sure there are many more of "me" in the city I live in. I have had 9 nights (and points!!!) post this year at hotels I have not stayed in. My guess is the front desk clerk asked if they were a member of PC and they said "yes" and didn't know their # so the clerk looked it up and they just so happen to have the same name and live in the same state as you -- "Oh Jim Smith from CT" and bingo -- you got the points.
It is nice that the other "me" stays at high end international ICs! Just suprised he hasn't figured it out yet... "I" am going to be in at the IC Park Lane next week actually...
