Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Discount Code Issues on held reservation - suggestions?

I have a $75 Discount Code. Tonight I held a reservation and when coming back, it was no problem to apply the Discount Code and gave me the option to pay. However I was unsure of my plans until about 12:01 a.m.

After midnight however when I'm finally sure of my plans, I went to apply the Discount Code to the held reservation and now it says:

The Discount Code is not valid for this itinerary or has to be entered at the start of the shopping process. You can:
Enter a different Discount Code,
Click the Cancel button to return to your reservation without a Discount Code, or
View Discount Code Terms and shop again for qualifying flights.
------------------------------
Of course the flights have jumped up 3x the cost. I can still purchase the reservation but not with the Discount Code.

Does anybody have a suggestion? Probably nobody will read this until it's too late anyway as my flight is suposed to be before 7 a.m. and the held reservation will expire prior to the call center opening at 5 a.m. Still any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow. I've never seen this happen and have held many reservations and re-added the discount code (usually companion certificates) when going through the purchasing process.

Did the code expire on 10/23/09?

I am a little confused by your last paragraph. Your flight is supposed to be before 7am today? And held reservations usually expire at 11:59pm the calendar day after you place the hold, so if you held it last night before midnight, then the hold should be good through 11:59pm PT tonight (Saturday night).

Worst comes to worst, I'd take a screenshot of the error you get when you try to apply the code, buy the ticket without the code, and then call Customer Care on Monday and see if they can do anything.

I've found that while reservations are supposed to expire at midnight, you actually get about an extra hour out of them. However, you cannot re-add a discount code after midnight has passed. I assume the system knows the reservation is queued to be canceled, and thus cannot be modified.

YMMV, but I've always been able to purchase a held reservation, without using a discount code, for a little while after midnight.

True, but the OP said "Tonight I held a reservation." Relative date terms are always ambiguous when they are used around midnight (especially when we're crossing time zones, like we do on FT!), but "tonight," even when posted shortly after midnight, seems pretty unambiguous that it was done at some point in the evening hours of 10/23, meaning the hold should be good through 11:59pm 10/24.

If the OP had said "last night," it could be understood that the hold could have been placed at some point on 10/22. But if my interpretation is correct, then the OP's experience does indeed seem curious and likely the cause of some problematic programming or something.

.actually if it was 7am this morning it would hold it until 5am this morning. IIRC you cant hold within 2 hours of departure. I never had a problem adding codes to held reservations either. As a matter of fact I used a $150 customer care e cert on a held reservation last night and it worked fine
