Which version of the 777 does KE use on this route? 3-3-3 or 2-5-2 in Y?

Out of ICN,
KE uses a B744-400 with a 3-4-3 configuration.
Asiana uses a 777-200 with a 3-3-3 seating configuration.
Lufthansa uses an A340-600 with a 2-4-2 configuration.

Which version of the 777 does KE use on this route? 3-3-3 or 2-5-2 in Y?

I am in the process of booking an award thru NWA from NRT to FRA on KE and they show NRT-ICN on a 747 and ICN-FRA on a 777. Therefore my question. We flew ICN-AMS before and that was a 777 as well and it was a 2-5-2 configuration. So, maybe NW has the wrong info and I figure it will be a 747. Thanks for the reply.

When are you flying? It seems KE plans to change equipment from 747 to 773ER from Jul 1st, 2010. 77W will be on day 2467 for July (day 135 still run by 747), and daily from August. Interesting. Then, one daily JFK, one daily FRA, and 3 weekly LAX will be KE's 77W routes at then.

So your flight will be 3-3-3 with super-new Y product.

That explains it, I was looking for Sep 2010 departures. Not a fan of 3-3-3 seating when flying as a couple. So I think I will be looking for doing the trip in Biz both ways. For now, one leg showed availability in Y only. With a 2-5-2
I would have dared it, not with 3s. Thanks for the response.

KE updates rough schedules for new configuration: www.koreanair.com, "on board" on top, "flight schedule with new aircraft". But I just searched their schedule manually to find July 2010 info.

I'm aware of the list on the KE website, but how did you find out when each route will be getting new seats. I know the booking codes are different between the second and third generation seats, but are future changes reflected? some dates of the LAX-ICN flight 11 and 12 just got the third generation seats, but they're still showing P and C. Are there any flights that are showing R and J in the future?

Booking class is one good glimpse to figure out configuration, but I usually open seatmap at expedia.com and get an idea because each config has different seatmaps fortunately (it's the most exact way). Flight schedule search on koreanair.com also gives a lot of information because right end of weekly schedule table which shows aircraft type actually has different links for the same "Boeing 777-200": it can be 200p, 200k, or 200s, and these represent different configuration.
