Hi..this is my first post and I would like for your suggestions...I will travel on Emirates from LAX to Manila next month however there is a long stopover in Dubai. My flight lands in Dubai at 19.45 pm and the next flight leaves at 3.45 AM in total is an 8 hour stopover.

Couple of questions:

Can the airline provide meals/accomodations for such stopover

Any reccomendations on activities to do? I would not like to stay 8 hours at the middle of the night wiaiting for my next flight.

I am a holder of a Spain passport so temporary Visa wouldnt be a problem

Thanks all for your help..

In answer to your questions:

1. The airline will not provide meals or accomodation.

2. For such a short stopover I would get a taxi to Deira City Mall which is about fifteen minutes from the airport. Plenty of shops and food outlets but no alcohol.

3. As you are a Spanish passport holder you do not require a visa to enter the UAE.

Thanks for your answer...Is that mall open 24hrs?

Do you think I can maybe do a night tour of the city? ( Pics of buildings, etc)

Thanks

A

If you are in Business or First Emirates WILL provide a hotel for a connection time exceeding 6 hours. (Le Meridien, Airport)
In Economy the connection time has to exceed 8 hours (a different hotel, not sure which one...)
You have to get in touch with emirates to organise it.

That'll be Millennium Hotel, EK Wing. You should get transport, dinner and a snack, and accommodation covered by Emirates as per their STPC rules.

New rules mean that only high fare classes qualify. What is your booking code?

Malls are usually open till 2200

Also, for 8 hours in the middle of the night, I'd just grab one of those lounger chairs in the airport and sleep. Arriving at 1945 means you will easily be able to grab one. Hold on to it though... by 2300 or so it will be almost impossible to get one.

Walk across the road to the Le Meridien or Al Bustan Rotana hotel - go across the walkway to the T1 car park. The restaurants are open until about midnight, and the bars until 2am.

Thanks for the heads up on the possibility of a hotel if booked in J or F. I was unaware of this, although I did take advantage of the three free nights at the Park Hyatt the end of September as I was in F en route to BKK from LHR. Excellent choice and location - beats staying on Sheikh Zayed Road.
