Is anyone going to EZE for Gay Pride? It's on Sabado, 07 Noviembre 2009. I am going to be down in BsAs for a few days before and after. I got the airfare roundtrip on Mexicana (MX) for $287 all in from LAX back in August. I am doing my research on the gay nightlife/saunas. Are there are any bars/clubs/saunas not to miss out on? I read about Amerika Discoteca being very fun. Also, what is the best neighborhood to stay in? San Telmo / Venezuela / Recoleta / Palermo ? I heard Recoleta is good? Also, is Iguazu Falls doable in an overnight trip (where you fly into Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport (IGR) in the morning, go to the falls, then fly back to BsAs the next day)?

I'm just back from EZE after having spent 2 weeks there (albeit work) and found Recoleta to be a very nice environment. I stayed at the Sofitel Arroyo (http://www.sofitel.com/gb/hotel-3253-sofitel-buenos-aires/index.shtml) which I cannot praise enough, great hotel. The other choice of course would be the Axel Hotel (http://www.axelhotels.com/buenosaires/index.php?lang=en), sister property of the Barcelona gay hotel.
Getting around in BsAs is easy and best to take a taxi, fares are the same as public transport in the US or EU. Have your wits about you when out and about as there is a fair bit of mugging and pickpocketing happening there.
Talking taxis, this is coincidently also the name for guys putting forward commercial propositions if you know what I mean and there are a lot of them. Just something to be aware of and clarify when talking to people in bars or on the net.
It helps to speak a bit of Spanish as English is not that widespread.
Having said all that BaAs is a great city and well worth a visit.

We arrive in Buenos Aires on October 29 and will still be in the city during pride weekend. We are staying in Recoleta.
We are also going to Iguazu, but are spending a couple of nights at the Sheraton by the falls. It seemed too impressive a sight to try and get there and back from Buenos Aires in one day!

I went to BA in March and found this thread very useful:

I did a write-up of our trip but basically-
We stayed in Palermo Soho in a rented apt and loved it. Recoleta was nice too, but a little too stuffy for us.
We did Iguazu in a day and had a blast. Would recommend leaving in the AM on the first day and leaving Iguazu on a late afternoon/evening flight the next day. Enjoy!
Hmm.. I wonder if they have any post-gay pride events.. :p
