Mileage Run Discussion - Req: Mileage run from NYC/EWR on CO to make silver

Hi all,

I occasionally check out this forum for deals and learn more about mileage runs. My company has cut down on travels drastically so this year I haven't even made it to Silver yet. :( I'm short by ~ 5500 miles so I only need to fly about ~2750 because of the double mile promotion. I have tried to price a flight using the ITA link but I haven't been able to. :confused:

This is with CO from NYC or EWR and I would prefer a weekend flight.

Any assistance with finding a flight between 11/9 and 12/15 with a good cpm will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the heads up .. I have this idea in my head that 5500 is a lot of miles and I will need a big mileage run to obtain ..

The flight to IAH would cost me $378 which comes to .067cpm after the 2x bonus .. it doesnt seem that great ..

I priced a flight to MSY for a weekend. The return flight stops by IAH first which gives me just enough miles and it comes out to $288 (.05cpm).

Can anyone suggest other destinations that might offer a better cpm?

Also, if i wanted to do a big mileage run starting from EWR and try to get max miles/lowest cpm possible.. what suggestions are there?

not sure about on those dates, but ewr-sfo or phl-sjc. Longer, but less expensive.

Otherwise, try Florida - Sat PM down & Sat PM back are usually not too bad price-wise.

Try connecting flights from LGA.

One reason you may be seeing high c/EQMs is the fact you are looking at destinations @2750 miles away.

Sales aside, generally speaking, the lowest c/EQMs are found on longer flights

In your case, FareComape's FT page is showing for CO that the lowest c/EQM are NYC/EWR => West Coast.

Using their basic calculation (ie no wacky routings) the lowest c/EQM flights are $221 a/i from EWR-SFO/LAX/SAN/SNA or SEA.

From JFK/LGA the lowest fare is $239 a/i to SJC.

Please note that the above are published fares and are based upon availability.

So, it seems you need to decide whether the lowest c/EQM is worth the extra time and mileage needed or whether the higher c/EQM , yet shorter flights more closely meet your needs.
