There appears to be a 2 day strike planned next week and hundreds of flights have been cancelled in anticipation.

to see the list of flights that won't operate on 10/26 or 10/27.

This is quite worrisome. Does anybody know if the Iberia might go an a strike again in December ? I have an award ticket booked with Iberia. Also, does anybody have any experience with such situations ? What does usually happen for the stranded passengers ? I remember hearing horror stories from my friends who were stuck in CDG for more than a day because of an Air France strike. And this is the main reason I have never taken an Air France flight.

Nobody knows if someone is going to strike unless it's announced, though it's not as if it happens every day.

Affected passengers will not be stranded, since the strike was announced ahead of time and IB has already offered to change their flights to another day for free.

Welcome to Europe....

Why is it that this sort of thing only seems to happen in european latin countries, and the odd scandic countries?

ie France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Greece, & Denmark seems more occasional than say, UK, Germany or Netherlands?

Flying IB tomorrow night JFK-MAD-BCN. I know that the JFK-MAD flight will be fine (he knocks on wood) but I'm wondering how IB is doing on reaccomodating the displaced passengers from yesterday and today's flights. Anyone know how it's going?
