Hi,
I just read, in a somewhat old thread, that if you have a DONE3 ticketed, but paid in Australia, the price would be converted into AUD. I think this arose because Australia doesn't have a xONE3 fare.
Has anyone heard of this before?
Ive just rung the AA RTW desk to set up an ex-CGK DONE3, and it is currently be priced, but if I can pay in Australia, it would seem rather handy.
Thanks again

Well, here is the rule:
When travel originates in a country for which a specific local currency fares is published and the ticket is sold
in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the
country of sale at the bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from the country of sale.
So you are saying that you would need to pay the Australian price for a DONE3 but because there is no local price for a DONE3 the Indonesian price would just be converted into AUD?

That's what I'm thinking. Reading the rule, there isn't really anything with which one can compare the resultant fare, to see which is lower. Is that how you read the rule?
Has anyone experience with this?
Well my firs Done4 was from Indonesia and Qantas converted into Australian dollars perhaps I was just lucky.
However on another occasion during the last 10% sale I called Qantas to book done3 ex ICN and they invented the price from somewhere as it was around 11000 aud when it should have only been around 6600, so I am not sure what country they decided to use I gave up and just booked it online using the online tool which resulted in currency conversion fees on my credit card however they did not cost 5000 AUD.
I would have thought they should convert from departure country price as they dont offer the fare
kind regards
