Air New Zealand Air Points - NZD AP$ to AUD AP$, when to convert?

Hi everyone,
I am faced with the situation of an address change having moved from SIN to ADL. If I change my NZ AP mailing address, I assume that my AP balance will be converted from the NZD version to the AUD version. Does NZ use an exchange rate that is close to the daily interbank forex rate?
I probably will have to change my mailing address before June 2010 so that my Silver card for next year will be sent to the correct address. But between now and June, I can wait it out if the NZD is going to rise against the AUD and assuming that the exchange rate used by NZ is close to what is in the markets. Has anyone had any experience with an address change from NZ to AU?
Also for Australian based members using AUD AP - do they have access to booking smart saver and other special NZ domestic fares off the airnz.co.nz website?
I also plan to use my APs for hotel stays in NZ. Say, for example, if a particular hotel in NZ costs NZD AP180 per night, would it also cost AUD AP180 per night if my AP is now denominated in AUD?
Thanks for any info.
Cheers,
Gerald

My understanding is the NZ airbucks : aussie airbucks exchange rate only changes infrequently (which is one reason why there are rules about switching back and forth). Assuming that is the case you'd need to find out from NZ about the rate the use and when it changes if you wanted to time the move. Unless you have a large balance of airbucks I wouldn't bother trying to time it just move address when it is convenient to do so.

I have a NZ based account and I credit my Australia credit card points to NZ every once a while. They use the middle price when converting the Airpoints so it is the same rate if you converting AUD to NZD or vice versa. However like Kiwi Flyer said, they don't change the rate everyday. The one I did a few days ago was 0.8190. From experience it always has the better value to transfer from an AUD account to a NZD one not the other way around. I could earn more NZD Airpoints from flights when converted from AUD Airpoints. For example, a business class flight from Australia to Asia earns me 150 AUD Airpoints, when converted to NZD based on current exchange rate, it is 183. Normally you would only earn 165 NZD Airpoints. There is a possibilty that they would adjust it back to 165 but you would have a chance to use them straightaway (my experience is they don't always pick it up). So if you have a large balance I wouldn't recommend transfer to AUD, plus you won't have access to fares available on the NZ site, such as grabaseat.

When I changed from AUD to NZD back in March, it varied depending on date of transaction.

$15 earnt on 22 Dec 08 became $16.92. (ie 1.128 vs ozforex 1.187)
$15 earnt on 16 Jan 09 became $18.01 (ie 1.201 vs ozforex 1.23664)

(noting $150 earnt on 29 Nov 08 was $169.22 - same as 22 Dec txn)

Hotel stays all just converted back to their NZ amount (so all my $20 NZ Airbucks hilton stays which had been converted to AUD Airbucks - varying depending on month - all went straight back to $20NZ Airbucks).

Current OZ to NZ conversion is 0.8190 (1.2210) - in July it was 0.7928 (1.2775).
