On a personal level and perhaps on more systemic levels (through subterfuge or outright trickery), have you ever found out that you'd been duped into eating something you would never want to try?

While some people may proudly proclaim their support for industrial slaughter of whales and dolphins, - including their consumption of whale, I guess many of us may have been tricked into eating a dog, whale, dolphin, ape or other creature.

Certain bodily parts/organs would qualiy, too (but that's a more harmless version of this trick, IMHO).

Do you have any examples of 'being tricked' to share?

Seeing news about The Cove made me think about the selling of dolphin and whale products and I suspect that some consumers are not told what they are really eating.

Not me, but when I was a young lad one of my favorite stories was the one my Grandmother told about being duped into eating lamb's brains during a visit to Iran. They were described to her as eggplant :D

Not that I was aware of.

I need no trickery to try food.
Snake, testicles, internal organs, monkey, still living small octopus, still living fish, dog and any number of insects all have taken a trip down through my intestines.

Friends did not tell me what a "Prairie Oyster" was until after I ate it but it was pretty tasty. Mind you, pan fried and covered with butter anything is pretty tasty.....

However I have "persuaded" friends and family to try stuff outside their comfort zone. Usually it goes, "did ya like it? you just had........" :D

My grandmother tricked me into eating venison. I always resisted and she told me it was steak. I honestly didn't like it and said this is no steak and she started laughing. Not sure what she found humorous about it but that was 30+ years ago. Haven't had it since.
