Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - End of year benefits question

I just had a random thought that I'm curious about. I'm gold right now, but I'll be dropping to nobody at the end of the year.

Say I book a flight for January 2nd, and there's U available at 72 hours (which would be December 31). Since I'm still gold on 12/31, would I get a complimentary upgrade?

Not actually planning to do this, since I have DL Gold till February, but I'm curious now.

It takes a while for things to switch to the next year .. at least it was like that last year .. so i would expect an upgrade. I think it took almost a week for my gold progress bar to reset back.

You actually keep your status in the computer until AS runs the "Weekend Update" after 1/1. The earlier in the week 1/1 occurs the longer you "keep" your status.
