JAL Mileage Bank - Business Class KIX-PVG: JAL or JALExpress, is there a difference?

I am going to be traveling on an AA award in Business to Shanghai from Osaka next year and right now there is one flight daily on JAL and one flight daily that is JAL operated by JAL Express.

Are there any differences in service with regard to seat, food service, lounge access, etc., that I should be aware of before choosing? The JAL Express schedule suits me slightly better.

I realize also that this far out and with all that's going on with JAL, there could be numerous schedule and service changes on this route before the flight date but in order to reserve something now, I'm curious about any differences.

I have never flown JEX before but I know they are a low-cost carrier owned by JAL. Seats and lounge access should be the same. However the JAL flight has more options on the IFE due to different aircrafts (MAGIC-III vs MAGIC-IV. I know it's weird, but MAGIC-III has more options than IV).

How about meal service differences?

The JAL flight is a morning departure (10.30am - 12.15pm) so I presume a full breakfast is offered?

The JAL Express is an afternoon departure (15.35pm - 17.05pm) so I presume a full dinner is offered?

In general, 10:30 and 15:35 JAL flights will have the same meal. But I am not sure for your case because the later flight is operated by JAL Express. Maybe you can give JAL a call and ask them about this.
