All I can say is wow and have never been so impressed with customer service at any airlines. I have flown CX numerous times from HKG to MNL, but I am from New York and always fly CO from EWR to HKG. This was my first time taking CX for a long trip. I was in F from JFK to HKG which of course was amazing. I was booked on flight 888 on the return in J and that flight does not leave until 12:15am. I arrived in HKG from Manila around 8pm and headed to The Wing Lounge and started doing some work. All of a sudden I do not know what happened. It must have been a long week at work, i noticed I fell asleep with my head in my computer and my eye glasses were on the floor broken. This never happens to me. I looked at my watch and saw it was 1am so obviously I missed my flight. I went to the front desk in the lounge and they were actually apologizing to me even though it was my fault. They said no problem and got me on the first flight out in the morning in J. They told me the lounge was closing at 2:30am and I would need to leave until 5:00am. I thought no problem, went outside the lounge and took a seat. Five minutes later a CX employee came out and said even though it is closed she could have me stay downstairs in the lounge where they already cleaned. She escorted me in and even brought me a blanket, pillow and a drink. She said she would notify the staff to make sure they knew I was there so they could wake me for my flight. All I can say is CX far exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I read complaints here and was worried. Also, a couple comments about the flight:
1) I read horror stories about the new J seat so I was a little worried. I can see where if you were traveling as a couple or group it could be hard to talk, but I loved the privacy. Also I found the seat very comfortable. Having flown F on the outbound flight, I slept just as good, if not better in the J seat. They both were very comfortable and I loved the privacy. I slept for 10 hours on my way back to NYC and I am 6'2" and simply loved the J seat.
2) I found the food to be as good as CO and the warmth of the flight attendants to be even better. The only area that CO has CX beat is on the wine service. Someone mentioned the wine stinginess on CX and I have to agree. It was only possible to get 1 small glass and when I asked for a refill it never came. On CO my wine glass is never empty. This is a very small price to pay for the overall great experience on CX.
