Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - NRT - BKK: favorite seats? Experiences?

Hello!
I and my wife will be flying this route in Business Class in December, and curious if anyone has a favorite seat (or two) that they like - I need to choose the seats.
I assume this will be the Version 2 of the 747 that TG operates, but wouldn't mind confirmation. (SeatGuru says that the Version 1 is operated mostly on the Bangkok-Rome-Madrid route, so I'm thinking Version 2 is used in the NRT to BKK route, but could be wrong).
Any other observations or comments about the flight are welcome as well!
Thanks

If it is a 747 you will have the old seats if it is a 744 you will have the newer ones. If a 346, the newest seats.
Upper deck bulkhead or exit rows on the 747s and 744s and bulkhead seats on the 346 (row 11) are the best seats

If you check your reservation on Thai Airways' website and it says 747-400, that means it is a 747-400 with the newer lie flat seats. If it says 747 "All Series Passenger" that means that it is a 747-400 with the old style seats.
I also have a reservation coming up for NRT-BKK and it has already changed several times on both the outbound and inbound flights. It has been loaded as A340-600, 777, and both versions of 747. So, even after you select your seats, be sure to check back and select new ones if the configuration changes.
I always like to choose the first row because you get more space than other seats. I also don't like the person in front reclining towards me in case of old seats.

I am on TG 641 next month in F and am looking for seating recommendations. Seatguru says the left side is quieter?? Is this actually true? (A346)
Also, I have considered ordering a special meal out of NRT. Any suggestions here? Or are the onboard offerings just as good? This is my first international TG flight so I am not as informed about their product on a first hand basis. Any insights would be appreciated. I am also on BKK-SIN v.v and BKK-PVG in C and F, respectively for this trip...

Seat 2A or 2K for me
Out of NRT and BKK I like to order the Lobster Thermidor

Thank you! Seatgutru doesn't exactly say WHY one side of the plane is quieter than the other. Foot traffic is not as big a deal to me...
Lobster Thermidor...I've had SQ's version a couple times. Is TG's any better?

Wow! I guess I will be requesting that for BKK-PVG. I am just crossing my fingers hoping the 346 "sticks" for my NRT-BKK flight in a couple days.
Thanks for your insights.^
TG international flights are so very foreign to me.

I think any international flight is foreign to everyone, just by the definition of 'international'. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

I called Thai Airways to select seats, and all they had available for 2 seats together was down on the main deck, row 24, seats E,F. I confirmed it is Version 2 747 (did so by asking how many first class seats - she said 10).

Question now is: what is anyone's experience with these seats? - next to galley wall, not next to a window.
Also: I can get two window seats, one in front of another in the upper deck (Row 12, 14 seats A - there is no row 13). I'm not too crazy about sitting apart, plus both I and my wife have a stranger next to us. I don't feel very optomistic about either aisle seat person exchanging with one of us to be together - obviously these single flyers chose the aisle seat for a reason. Any opinions on this choice (upper deck apart) vs the lower deck together?
Thank you!

Personally I would just book the best looking pair of seats that are together. You can always monitor the seat map and switch into better seats when they become available.
You also never know when the configuration or aircraft type will be changed, so nothing is set in stone until you check-in. Also, there is always a good chance of getting better seats at check-in, especially if you arrive early.
IMHO it is best to be guaranteed two seats together. It would not be nice to be in two window seats next to strangers.

If you are on a 747 with the old seats, I'd buy an upgrade to F at the airport. I think they are about $400 a head one way. Lobster Thermidor is good but the best grub in F on TG is the caviar with ice cold vodka. (On a 7 hour flight, I usually go through a few tins and TG loses money on my UG.:D)
Interestingly, my TG677 NRT-BKK on 20 Oct did not have caviar.

Ditto on October 29th .
They also swapped a 747 for a 744.
Only 6 persons shown in F at i check in, yet we ended up 14 in F...

The probably took it off the menu after my last flight. I heard the World Wildlife Fund put sturgeon on the endangered species list when they heard I was going to BKK.:p
