I recently flew on a super-cheap "MHlow" fare from KUL to SIN. The website and the e-ticket do not indicate the fare class, but my boarding card stub says "Class: X". Is this the actual fare class?

If yes, it's apparently eligible for Delta SkyMiles (http://skymilesoffers.delta.com/airline_partners.php), since they award min. 500 miles for "all Malaysia Airlines-operated flights with the exception of all domestic Malaysia flights and flights booked in G, L, V or W class" -- no mention of X!

if this was one of those standby KUL-SIN fares, then I'm guessing no.

No, not standby, but the very cheapest class of advance booking fare (under RM150 all in).

And I agree that obviously this fare does not earn any MH miles, it even says "Enrich Miles: Nil" in small print on e-ticket. My questions are, is the fare class really is "X", and if yes, will Delta follow the letter of their own rules and grant the miles?

Did you get the DL miles?
It would be unusual to get miles in a partner's FFP when miles are not available in the carrier's FFP.
