Good Evening.

I tried to research this topic on FlyertTalk and on AR's english website, to no avail. Any experience is apprecaited.

We will be flying from Buenos Aires (AEP) to Trelew (REL), then a few days later, continuing on to El Calafate (FTE) and finally down to Ushuaia (USH) and then back to AEP.

From what I can tell, AR only allows one bag to be checked per person up to 15 Kilo's (or about 33 pounds)...

For each additional bag... there is a charge... but there is where I am beyond confused... This being a 2+ week long trip, with multiple climates, we will be having quite a bit of stuff... For the second bag a person might want to bring, do they charge per bag? Or per Kilo? Or both?

Are some of these smaller airports like Trelew, or El Calafate real stringent on always collecting these fees?

It seems that we will likely have to pay at each airport we embark at since it's a multi-leg ticket, is that correct? I have been told on the phone by an agent that it's a full fare ticket, that is fully refundable and changeable...

Thank you for any insights.

Lanny

Please remember that the domestic prices per kilo are priced in pesos. $=Argentine peso, U$S=US dollars.

Time to think about consolidation, stuff in pockets, cargo pants, perhaps a small back pack as your personal item in addition to carry on. Layer your clothes, wear the jacket on boarding, use a small ipod, get rid of items that you may not need or can buy locally. I can do 14 days with my small carryon (admittedly it weighs more than 7kg and only has been caught 3 times in the last 8 years-only in Asia - but YMMV), a 15kg checked bag and a small back pack which I use only if needed. Even MarshaB can come close.

And do not expect LAN Argentina to be any better except they normally fly their routes. They definitely check weight in Salta, AEP and Mendoza.

Otherwise, just pay up.
