Mileage Run Discussion - [MX] Fare Error- will carrier deny boarding?

We were lucky enough to snag a roundtrip ticket on Mexicana from DFW to Buenos Aires for USD $145.00 (plus tax) ...Our travel is scheduled for Spring 2010..I bought the tkts from the MX website and am "comfirmed". I am now hearing horror stories of pax being denied boarding due to faulty fares - I bought AMEX trip cancellation insurance -just to be safe...Has anyone had this experience? Any suggestions? Should I call MX to clarify? thank to all for your help.

Wow nice catch!! Generally, if (1) you have a ticket number and (2) your credit card was charged, you should be good to go.
Under no circumstances should you call MX and ask. If you are curious, you might eventually call and ask a benign question, say about seat selection, meal service, check in times, etc... But I would certainly let the dust settle for a few weeks.
They must have fixed it since the few weeks I tried, it was pricing out at well over $1K.
I doubt the AmEx insurance will cover you on this so you might want to see if that can be refunded.
As for being denied boarding, if they don't cancel your tickets in advance you're probably OK. But they could take a page from the BA playbook and just cancel out all the tickets (http://www.wanderingaramean.com/2009/10/my-20-worth-of-fun-with-british-airways.html) one day. You never know.

Not sure trip insurance will help here. Read the policy. Even if covered, you might be limited to the amount paid not cost of a replacement ticket.
Odds are you will not have an issue.

Perhaps Mileage Run Discussion is better than the Deals section as it's not an active fare.

You will not be able to get clarification by calling Mexicana. Do you have a ticket number or just the confirmation? I bought a ticket from MX and was just given a confirmation with no ticket number. They told me I would not be able to fly or get a refund without a ticket number.
Sadly, if you google Mexicana or look up their BBB report you'll see many instances of them denying boarding for no apparent reason at all. They have a well earned "F" rating with the BBB. Most airlines are "A".

My one experience with a mistake fare, UA MSP-GEG, encountered zero issues. UA even went above and beyond when a issue was encountered midtrip.
On the rare chance that something does happen it wil be well before your arrival at the airport. Have no worries and enjoy BA!

I would definitely not recommending calling MX (or any airline ticketing a seemingly too-good-to-be-true fare) and pose the question: "Hey, this fare seems too good to be true. Will it be honored"? Doing so surely invites trouble.
The fare you reference (or a similar one) was subject to a fairly lengthy FlyerTalk thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/980487-fare-gone-mx-aa-dfw-sao-bog-bue-eze-ccs-pty-gua-313-r-t-ai.html
There was also a similar MX fare from LAX-EZE which was also subject of an even more lengthy FlyerTalk thread of its own:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/972537-fare-gone-mx-lax-eze-287ai-337-437ai-ord-jfk-mia-eze-too-merged.html
You might want to post in one or both of those threads and see whether other travelers have encountered difficulties in their travels and compare notes with your own experience and those of other persons with whom you are familiar.
And next time you stumble across an exceptional fare, please do share it with us promptly!

OP is dealing with MX btw, not BA.
You experience was occured with UA, not MX. If UA wouldn't honor a mistake, being a major american player, it would be reported everywhere. Whereas MX is a foreign carrier, and also a rather small airline, different countries have different rules to protect customers, it may not even have the rule in Mexico.
this link talks about people that have already flown this fare with no problems, plus if anyone has been denied boarding, we would have already heard of this, plus this is not a BA fare

I've moved this from MR Deals to MR Discussion, but it's almost worth moving here to the earlier MR Deal involving MX, helpfully referenced by SAT Lawyer & yuel in the posts above:
From posts #9 & 11:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/972537-fare-gone-mx-lax-eze-287ai-337-437ai-ord-jfk-mia-eze-too-merged.html
(it may yet be consolidated there after a while here)
I'd follow the advice of Post #2; best beware of what happens when you have an airline employee look at you fare.

I believe in this case that BA refers to Buenos Aires, and not British Airways ;)

i think if you are charged you are good to go.
I went on that OSL-HKG mistake fare, did all kinds of things to the ticket, splitting 2 tickets, change dates, seats, etc. Everything went smooth.
