Airlines of India - Take-off under jeep headlights?

This is strictly not a post on "Airlines of India" but nevertheless, deserves some mention (Mods, please feel free to relocate/delete this post if inappropriately placed.)
I saw this on the news yesterday, about a local politician's flight being "forced" to take off using only the headlights of a jeep. Ridiculous!

that's pretty amazing (not in a good way, though). and it's not just some local politician, it is a national one with some prominence, too.
i wonder what kind of threats were made - I can't imagine the pilot would have given in so easily.

Well, they normally are forced to. There's increased scrutiny of such instances after YSR's (the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister) death in a chopper crash.

I know a similar situation in VJA (vijayawada) airport, though for a regular plane (guess kingfisher) and not a VIP one. Since this airport doesnt have runway lights too there were instances when plane got delayed, they used airport vehicles' headlights for flight operations.

It was sometime last year. Yes. I read it in media. Unfortunately I dont have a link now.
