Virgin flying club - BA Gold already - can I use this to get Virgin Gold?

I wonder if anyone has had any experience (and can advise on) any way of utilising having gold membership of one airline in getting gold membership of another? I am BA Gold and Virgin Silver - is there a tried & tested technique that anyone can recommend to "persuade" Virgin that it would be in their interest to go gold?
Thanks

BlackCat is right, if you have already booked say three return UC flights, and you have BA Au status, VS may consider fast tracking you. But only may and depends on the circumstances ... VS does not status match willy nilly as some other airlines are refuted to have done in the past.

skinnric , welcome to FT.
It's called status matching, and your best bet is BMI.
