Hi everyone,

we are looking into burning some air miles for a trip to the US. We could book one leg (would be ZRH-MIA on LX) in F. This would mean an extra 12,500 BD miles plus 70 GBP more (it would be a cash&miles booking).

I know the question "is it worth it?" is difficult to answer, just looking at your personal preferences. We are both not great sleepers on planes, so sleeping comfort is not that important. How is the F-Lounge in ZRH? The pictures and descriptions on the website do not look that overwhelmingly.

Thank you for your input and thoughts!

I would probably look into ZRH-JFK or ZRH-ORD on the new LX First seats then take a *A flight down to MIA or to where your final destination is.

Good luck! I'm sure others will be able to provide more comprehensive answers later today.

The only destination that has the new seats confirmed is ZRH-JFK and we cannot connect to MIA or MCO from there on. So this would not be an option. But thanks anyway :)

I have done LX F between BKK and SIN in old F seats and was very impressed by the experience. The cabin crew couldn’t have been nicer – warm, human and very generous. The food was fantastic; the catering included unusual but excellent Swiss wines; the seats were great for sitting in and would have reclined flat. If the LX F Lounge is like the F lounges at FRA then they may look spartan but the joy is in the amenities (baths, dining, good drinks selection, personal service). I wouldn’t think twice about using extra miles to go in F with LX.

It really depends on if you are looking for something special or just a comfortable trip. I travelled F ZRH-LAX on a 340 this year and thought it was well worth the miles and cash (although I booked prior to the 2.5 increase). Its a 10+ hour flight to MIA so I'd go for it in F only, old LX C is worse than old UA C by a long shot on the comfort scale. I never used the F seat as a bed as I prefer to sleep once I arrive when travelling West. The seat is very comfortable, the service is superb and the cabin is cozy and private without being claustrophobic. The lounge is great with an excellent meal available if that's what you'd prefer. The exec car to the gate is a cool touch if like me travelling in F is a rarity and you'd like a treat.

I'm travelling in C FRA to MCO with LH next month and not expecting it to be anywhere near as special which is fine for this trip. This is an option if you want to save miles as its an easy drive to MIA. CO have the only non stop :-: flight on the route. US and UA require a stop.

Have a great trip :)

Thanks for your comment! I think we will indeed go for F and treat us to a little something extra.

Just arrived in BKK on LX F a few days ago. Fantastic experience! Great food, both in lounge and in the air, great wines, and service. One of my best F flights ever. Looking forward to the return journey.
