I need to fly to DPS but then back to SIN as my final dest on another separate ticket. Any issues encountered getting right back on the arriving plane? Do you have to go through immigration, or can you go right into the departures area and right back on the plane?

You can, but you'll still have to pay for the departure tax.
Indonesian airport authorities will impose the departure tax if you arrive and depart on the same plane even on seperate tickets.
You may not have to get a visa as you are in theory in transit. But just be prepared for the additional bureacrecy of it all as ex-DPS now require additional security time. Just make sure SQ in SIN advise SQ DPS of what you intend to do.

And definitely carry a copy of your onward itinerary.

I live in Bali. Actually, there is no "Transit" facility in Bali as such, because DPS is not really a transit port so, especially if you are planning on leaving again on the same incoming flight (For whatever reason?) I would forget it. If you have to clear Immigration and check-in again, forget it. That will take you too long and the check-in will be closed before you get there.

OK, I think I will fly on QR instead, since their flight has a 2.5 hour connection time and goes directly to KUL. On the way back I'll go a day early and enjoy an overnight at a hotel on the beach!
For "whatever reason" is that I have one of the DL-ticketed JFK-DPS $2,400 C tickets, but my destination is actually KUL... JFK-CDG-SIN-DPS including the 380... worth the extra 5 hours of flying I guess... SQ C is nothing to complain about!
