All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Select Seats Before Flight?

Hi everyone,

After considering a few other airlines, I managed to snag a cheaper Asia itinerary on ANA! I bought the ticket on Orbitz but wasn't offered any seat selection. Does ANA offer Economy passengers any seat selection options on their website or over the phone? I've got a NYC-TYO-HKG flight all in one day and I'm desperate for an aisle seat.

Get the Record Locator and log on to ANA's site and assign, or "request" as they call it your seat. Not terribly difficult and very much like any other airline.

I just saw that I'm stuck in a middle seat near the back--do you know if there's anything I can do at the airport to get an aisle seat?

Call ANA and request a bulkhead aisle or exitrow aisle (they are blocked until airport checkin) if you request it you will usually get it over 95%(100% if you are NH elite from my experience) of the time.

If you have *G it will help even more :)

*G = Star Alliance Gold
*S = Star Alliance Silver

NH = All Nippon Airways
UA = United Airlines

Do you know if ANA allows passenger to pay and upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy? I might be tempted to upgrade my NYC-NRT flight if it isn't too expensive...

Oh, I thought only *S and *G can ask for bulkhead aisle or exit row ?

Alrighty, what's the secret number to call for this? As a UA *G today I was told on the JP English line in no uncertain terms that there's no way for them to put in an advance request for the exit row and it has to be done at the airport. Looking at my flight, all the exit row seats are blocked, so they're still available but NH won't release them.

Do the same rules apply to J as to Y when it comes to reserving exit row seats?

I was able to reserve exit row seats and bulkhead seats in advance for ANA flights from BKK-NRT and NRT-HKG using their online e-service.

Bulkhead, aisle, and exit row are available in advance to anyone in business or better.

Row 1 is about the only thing normal folks cannot get in advance. NH VIPs though, no problem. But that is a tad higher than Star Gold or even F class ticket pax.

You should be able to get your seat assignment on ana website as long as you know your reservation number.
