Emirates Airlines Skywards - Child ticket..what does EK do with meals automatically?

Hello,

I am trying to avoid getting special meals to help with last-minute upgrade options. For a booked child ticket (older than 2 years old), does EK automatically load those child meal boxes without request or is it only if you indicate such in the profile for the reservation (request the child meal)?

Even without requesting a special meal, EK will know how many child tickets were purchased since the fare is diffferent.

Can someone in the know or from experience indicate what happens?

Your child will get a regular adult meal unless you change to a child meal by managing the booking / calling to request one.

By last minute upgrade options do you mean op-up?
Because I know people say it lowers your chances, but I have a special meal everytime I fly and have had op-ups.

Confirmed, my granddaughter has just flown with EK and received a regular adult meal.
