Best sale of the year. Grabbed a LAX-JFK. Very Happy indeed!

I looked up SJU to FLL and even the morning flight showed a $31 fare. Amazing!

Yes. Amazing. It looked like JetBlue came about and set its sale (sic) to Virgin's wind at the witching hour, last night. Transcons went to $100++. Not bad. Not great, but a nice soft landing. Shorthauls went to $39 again, so that's nice. I haven't seen today's JetBlue matching fares voiced as a sale, so here's the Virgin Sale for an indication. JetBlue was matching "all over the place" (but I didn't check everywhere).

Wow...I barely understand what you're getting at with that post.

And those "Sale" fares from VX are mostly the same as they've been offering for a while. I booked LAX-JFK for less than $100 just a couple days ago.

Short version, without the "sale/sail" wordplay and analogy, and mixing metaphors: I tthought it was a soft landing at midnight mountain time, last night, as JetBlue went from $31 to $100 transcon. I was inferring that it was in large part due to Virgin's announced $100 sale. (I got it linked by TravelZoo this morning.)

"Come about" is a sailing term, meaning shifting the boom to take the wind on another course.

Right, but the VX fares aren't actually a sale nor a sail. Those are the same fares that were bing offered earlier in the week, as well as last week and the week before. At least on the transcons which are the ones I was watching.

It's not my spin. This morning...

Of course, this isn't saying that it started today. But I was admonished once on these boards for thinking that TravelZoo actually really searches the industry and "discovers" the best deals. (The point, several took pains to educate me, is that the listed pay TravelZoo to have their exceptionalism discovered.) So, if it walks like a sale... :)
