Does it mention anywhere in the PriorityClub T&C's that a hotel can charge a city/state tax per night?

(Not talking about Service fees, GSTs or other food/beverage/service based taxes - just a hotel room tax)

The terms of the program are that taxes are included.

However, there are issues in India with this.....so if you are talking about somewhere in India then they do add some taxes on top.

I'm more than happy to name and shame -

Intercontinental Geneva - 4.25 CHF "city tax" per night.

(Note the charge is not included in any of their rates - CITY TAX OF CHF 4.25 NOT INCLUDED IN RATE )
-- and I just realised it's already been posted about: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/9757895-post17.html

BTW, as I've written at another board, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Only in Delhi, IIRC. Not in the rest of India.

I got charged something like 4 euros on a 2 night reward stay in Toulouse, France.

Got points on it though :)

No taxes in Madrid, Swindon in the UK or at the IC Vienna, though (of course there may be no such taxes in these places anyway)

Question along the same ilk really...

I have a Part Points Part Cash reward night booking at the CP in Times Sq NY, it states that "Tax of 14.75% and $3.50 per night not included"...

Will that be 14.75% of the $60 cash part of the deal that will be charged?

Thanks,

No - you've got a points redemption. The $60 was used to buy 10K of the points used to fund the stay. So no cash is paid to the hotel: and 14.75% of $0 is $0 :). No idea if the "per stay" tax of $3.50 is charged.

Thank you IAN-UK, just means I will have to spend those extra few dollars on more shopping! Darn it... :D

Although I will put $7 to one side... just to be safe... ;)

It simply depends if taxes are based on the price (percentage, like added value taxes) or fixed taxes.

In France (the same in Geneva) "taxe de séjour" is a municipal tax for the financial support of :
- Tourism associations;
- Editing of tourism documents, brochures and advertising campaigns;
- Touristic festivals and events.

The rate is generally very low (no more than 4 Euros a day by person).

I recently paid EUR 1.20 in Nice per night for the "taxe de séjour". One night was an award at the HI, the other one was a paid night at Le Méridien. Not really a problem. ;)

I have never been attempted to be charged any taxes on a reward stay with IHG. The terms do not make an exception for per person or per night taxes. "Each reward is valid only for a double or king room for one night and tax." http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/c/2/content/dec/pc/0/en/ptc.html

SPG allows hotels to collect per person/per night taxes from members, IIRC. Some IHG properties may do the same, but it's not in the T&C that way.

I've stayed at a couple of different hotels in DEL and one in BOM on points, and none of them tried to charge any taxes.

In Miami Beach, all hotel bills will have a room tax of 13% that is levied by the city.
You pay 13% of zero when staying on points
but you pay USD 19 per day for "resort fee"
