Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Where do single middle aged women go for holidays?

I'm a divorced middle aged man, who enjoys travelling, but don't like holidaying on my own. I would like to know the most popular places single middle-aged women like to go for vacation. I often go to the Gold Coast & Cairns, but it seems that the holidayers there are mostly young singles, or families. Maybe I'm choosing the wrong places to stay.

I've been to Tahiti, Bali & Fiji, but, for one reason or another, I didn't find those places all that appealing.

Any useful suggestions?

Have you checked out FT Dos? Maybe I shouldn't encourage competition, but at the moment I'm not too concerned with that ...

(I'm a single straight male, maybe a bit past middle age depending on how you define it. After all, 60 is the new 40.)

Whenever I think about cruises, I remember that cheesy TV soap opera The Love Boat, and I begin to feel sick in my stomach.

Apart from the possibility of seasickness, I don't like being at the mercy of the weather. If the weather is bad, your entertainment options on a boat are limited.

It's almost 2010 - times have changed and ships have stabilisers!!!

I fit the category and love going to Hong Kong. But, they can be found anywhere you look.

What's FT Dos?Check out the CommunityBuzz forum. "Do" is standard UK slang for a party. FT is, of course, FlyerTalk. There are FT get-togethers ("Dos," as they're often called*) in all parts of the world, all times of the year. Many participants are usually women with enough income to travel and no ties to keep them at home, probably the OP's target demographic.

*Some FTers insist on writing it as "Doo," even though it's a regular word with a generally accepted spelling. The reason may be related to their early toilet training. :D
