I have til 10/31 to use my Cap One No Hassle Miles under the old system (price of ticket x 80 = cost in points). After 11/1 the price goes to 100 x cost of ticket.
Say I book a non-refundable coach ticket for $1400 on an airline with a change fee of $100. This will cost me 112,000 points. When I change the ticket down the road, I should still have $1300 to apply to future tickets, right (details depend on the airline)? In other words, this should work just the same as the pre-devaluation TYN? Obviously the rewards aren't as high, but under the new system 112k points only buys me a ticket worth $1120, so I'm still saving $180.
Also, I assume I can't buy a refundable (no change fee) ticket for the same reason it wasn't a good idea with TYN - the refund could go to the credit card, rather than to me?
Cap One does allow me to redeem for any ticket, even on WN, so if that helps pls chime in.
