Another option for a discount if you don't have AAA is if you have a Costco membership.. that usually gives the minimum AAA rate. Sometimes AAA rates have a higher negotiated discount and additional ammenities though.

I've saved as little as 10% and as much as 30% depending on the hotel, how booked they are, etc. AAA sometimes have rates with breakfast included (usually a full buffet), free parking or other things, again depending on the hotel and how booked they are.

Another advantage I have found with AAA rates is that they may offer better cancellation policies. Where I stay frequently the AAA rates are identical to the prepaid, non-refundable Hyatt.com rates, but AAA rates can be cancelled without charge with just a day or two advance notice. This lets me make a reservation weeks in advance and if my travel plans change I don't have to worry.

How do you get the Costco rate?

How do you get the Costco rate?
Type COSTCO in the offer code box when booking your reservation.

You save at least 10% of Hyatt Daily Rate if AAA rate is available. During promotion period full breakfast is included (Offer Code: BREAKF). Rate is not prepaid (at HP it' 10% (http://www.hyatt.com/hyatt/place/specials/aaa-caa-savings.jsp?category=2006)).
Costco Members (http://www.costcotravel.com/?rc=6&ancillary=hyattHotelsAndResorts#0) save 10% at participating Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in the U.S. and Canada (AFAIK: Excludes Park Hyatts).

I just signed up for AAA hoping to take advantage of some of the rate discounts in the upcoming year. Are AAA promos (such as BREAKF) announced via Hyatt emails, or are they typically announced via AAA communications? Are current AAA rate promos listed on any threads?
thanks,
TBH

These rarely are announced anywhere. I typically use the AAA rate and BREAKF code first when searching rates at a particular hotel. Often, there are multiple AAA hotel packages, some that include breakfast, some that include breakfast and parking and some that stand alone. After I search AAA rates, I look at the best available rates, and I also search the hotel special offers.
My typical Hyatt reservation searches involve about 4-5 searches on the website to find the best deal. Keep an eye here, but often you will find the best deals from about 10 minutes of searching... :D
