InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Help! Novice RA needs advice.

Hey guys, I know I've just registered but I've been trolling these forums for quite some time and am very impressed by the volume of knowledge that's held here.

I'm asking for help/advice on how to get something I want done accomplished at the IC Beijing Financial District.

I am a Platinum RA traveling on the advanced pay rate in China. I stayed at Beijing BeiChen near the olympic village right after I arrived in China and was dressed in a suit for work, I received a 4 level upgrade to their Olympic Suite! Now that I've been dressed in leisure clothes, I've only received one ore two level upgrades and never a suite (Chendu, Shanghai, and now Beijing Financial District). I know it sounds childish and self-serving, but is there a 'best' way to change rooms after one night (I'm here for four more days) to a better room? I'm even willing to give out a few hundred RMB!

Do you have Club access? Could be the hotel is full or has actually sold the suites and thus you've not lucked out with that form of upgrade. As long as you've been getting lounge access on regular rated rooms, you've received the standard RA upgrade. These are normally assigned prior to your arrival, so your dress would be irrelevant to the type of upgrade you get. Suites are no longer a standard IC upgrade unless you book a top tier, regular room.

Yeah, I'm on the club level. I booked a king superior room, however.

The next question would be, is there any way to bump my room to a suite? Even at additional cost?

Just smile at them at check-in and ask them what kind of room they gave you and tell them you are not happy with that kind of room. Unfortunately I had to do this a frw times in China and it always worked. Tell them you prefer a suite with club access and as long as they have one in their inventory you will most likely get it..... But: TELL THEM.....

A curious question, how many RAs are there? Do IC's experience a higher rate of their inventory booked by RAs?
