I received a $ 500 check certificate (valid one year) in the mail from Hyatt...didn't even want to open it as I thought it was just some advertisement. I wonder if anyone else received something like this? Perhaps some other European-based member?
Amazing...thank you Hyatt!

did they explain what was it for? Compensation for the bad experience in the past? They must have included some sort of explanation.

Comparable with the presents in recent years in terms of value...complimentary night at the PH Milan ( priced at Euro 450 back in the days ) and PH Zurich ( priced a little lower )
A $ 500 gift certificate would be great, though.

Love that, so now a letter arrives asking you for $1000 as a deposit has to be made before they can send the $500 and the $1000 back to you. Oh yes can we have your bank account details? . We shouldn't laugh, a retired farmer up north just lost/gave $175000 to them last week. As long as it wasn't his last $100,000, he can put it down to experience, regards bkkrop

That's actually kind of what I was thinking (I did get the free night at Hyatt Place, too, but won't be able to use it before the end of the year). Well, with FFN and the double nights promo, I am definitely going on a run until the end of the year to renew my Diamond status. That gift certificate is good for one year, so I think I will probably use it for a leisure stay when I use the FFN I will hopefully earn during this period.

Are you ever going to tell us, how/why you got it?

I have no idea - it just happened to be in the (snail) mail.

How about a description of the mailing? Was it in an envelope or folded mailer? Was there any accompanying letter, explanation, congratulatory statement, anything? Can you post the text?
Are there any T&C's printed on it? Exclusions, blackouts, restrictions, requirements, etc?
More info would be great.

And I was going to start raving about those very nice quality white towels we got several years ago -- and how it made me wonder what they might have thought they were preventing. :D (The eclectic CD sort of missed the boat with me... But the thought counted. :) )

I'm currently traveling (surprise ;)) and left the check certificate at home. I will take a look when I am back and will report back. I remember that it just said something like "to thank you for your continued loyalty..." and that it was valid one year and that it said that it can be used against any charges, even the room price. Needs to be used at once (cannot be used up bit by bit). Really awesome - I am making sure I will requalify this year (already made almost 10 reservations until the end of the year) - what a difference between Hyatt and Hilton on every level (Hyatt - great promo, generous gifts, making keep status easier through double stay promotion, top status is actually recognized at hotels, 4 confirmed suite upgrades; Hilton - increase redemption levels in a down economy, no difference between Gold and Diamond status, relatively unattractive promotions). I just wish Hyatt had more hotels in Germany/Europe, and that their two London hotels weren't at least twice as expensive as the Hilton hotels I stay in there.

Hi y'all!
Having also received one of them check certificates and being from Germany too, I just thought I'd post front and back of the mailer since it really does look like a rather unspecific Hyatt GP info mailing and I was very close to throwing the thing away without opening it as well.
mailer frontside (http://www.xoopit.com/s/218k7nqkjgrrqvt1ljhu#rdOgFTOsZzitboNTpB_q0UkM61w6r jWDL)
mailer backside (http://www.xoopit.com/s/218k7nqkjgrrqvt1ljhu)
Enclosed is the actual gift check and a letter essentially stating that this certificate should be seen as a small reassurement of Hyatt's firm belief that loyalty begets loyalty.
So, to anyone discovering a letter like this in their mail: do not throw it away accidentally!
Who really insists on not wanting this impressively generous goodie can forward it to me instead. :D
A thousand thanks for the unexpected $500, Hyatt ^^^

Thanks for posting - and welcome to FT!
Moral: If you get a mailer from Hyatt with German text on the front, keep it! ;)

Hopefully the FT representative for Hyatt will post some clarification...I'm off to Grand Hyatt Kauai for 5 nights in November and this $500 would sure come in handy!:D
Sounds like its time to relocate to Germany.:D:D:D

Hmmm, with a New Zealand postage/meter stamp on it?
Very generous gesture Hyatt!!!! ^^^^^
Glad Hyatt is giving something to recognize the European (or German only?) Diamond members as they don't exactly have it as easy there in terms of requalifying as we have here in the USA with our cheapy HPs. ;)
Congrates to all who received this "Generous" gift :)

Thank you, attorney28 and Nachtmeister. And welcome to FlyerTalk, Nachtmeister!
And bravo to Hyatt again.
Does the reverse side say, "global membership"?
