I had a few questions so I called for clarification. It took the rep several minutes to find this program and he did not have much more than a blurb, but he did note the following.
1. Even though the web site said "you are automatically eligible" - he had to enroll me in the specific promo - the promo id is ----- o328:0002
2. you must make spend two times at participating merchants (see website) AND those purchases must total $50. (NOT each purchase must be $50).
3. you can make TWO purchases at the same merchant. In other words I can rent cars from Hertz twice and it satisfies the requirement.
This is going to really help us on our car rentals in Hawaii, both the wife and I have SPG AMEX business cards and effectively this will make two car rentals days almost free. I will probably put in a cheap order like an e-book to Barnes and Noble . com to satisfy the second purchase to get us over the $50 threshold.
