Hi everyone,

I have been using the quidco links to book my accor stays (cashback site UK based) so have failed to check this. I did a couple of trials to see if by logging into the aclub page, and then trying to book I can get better rates. It doesn't appear so. It would be nice if there were some perks for being aclub member. Any experiences with this?

Thanks in advance.

PS: There is not a lot of information on how to save money with accor hotels. I don't travel as often as most of the posters here at FT, but over the years I have stayed consistently with Accor in Europe (twice, 3 times a year), so I would really welcome some info on accor. I know the aclub is recent, so there is not a lot of info out there. And I guess other hotel programmes are more appetizing, but involve lots of stays and cash spent. But for me a not-so-frequent traveller, accor has been value for money. And more info would be really welcome.

Accor claims that the best prices are available on the accorhotels.com and a-club website. It operates a price guarantee should you find a lower price anywhere else on the internet. This does not apply to so called secret hotel deals offered on priceline and others (where you book a hotel without knowing its name).

One thing to note is that you will not be eligible for a-club points if booked on a third party site.

A-club membership does not get you lower prices than those advertised to the general public, the only exception is the paid for Favourite Guest programme which comes with discounts.

A-club as any other hotel programme is evolving, so more perks might emerge (I certainly hope so). Existing perks are listed here (http://www.a-club.com/en/membership-levels.html)

It's a shame, really.

as for the best price guarantee, I've just posted some negative experiences in another post.

Let's hope that now with the AClub they are gonna have more offers available for members.

I'm afraid all hotel chains are up to that trick, like for like rates only apply and once they become packaged they come up with excuses. Had the same problem with Hilton.

Accor do seem to keep travel agent prices pretty much in line with their own site prices. Just make sure that a cheaper price you might find does include the taxes Expedia seems to omit then from their Accor prices.

Marriott are the best at offering the BRG pledge with their "look no further" promise. I had no problem getting the price matched plus another 25% off when I submitted a request for the SYD Marriott when I found a cheaper price. ^
