If I take this routing, seems to be the only way, does a connection in LHR then add a Continent to the AONEX Fare?

Yes. Aircraft touchs a continent --> you pay for it

The moment you touch a continent you will have to pay for it even when just for a transit. When flying ORD-DEL you might also have to pay for a third continent as there is no xONE2 (or xONE3 when from SWP).
