just returned on a klia syd flight business class and was very dissapointed with the whole flight, sat in 5A 5C with my wife, seat 5C had no power to the recline
adjustment so fa's had to adjust seat manually. There was also a family of 4 that booked 2 seats in business and 2 seats economy and spent the whole flight swapping and changing seats, on top of that row 5 on the ageing 777 is seperated from economy with just a curtain, paid $6500/ticket for the whole trip to europe and could not have been worse, are all airlines this bad? have been flying Mh for many years now but maybe time for a change.

I may be wrong, but I think seat swapping between different classes is generally not allowed; we once flown from TPE-SG on Eva, with four of us in Biz, mother in law in first. My son , then a toddler, was curious and wanted to see how the first cabin looked like. The FA grudgingly allowed him only 5 mins in there even though MIL was the only passenger in first.

I'd normally believe that all airlines separate their economy and business class sections with a curtain. To add a door is too cumbersome.

I was once told that moving between cabins is also not allowed because of balance issues. Not sure how true that is...

Anyway, EVA generally seem to allow short visits to a higher class but not general hanging around or seat swapping. Ie case by case on the basis it is discrete and doesn't disturb other pax.

sounds like the MH FAs dropped the ball here. Rows 5 are a bit weird, but some like them. We just came back from KUL with 4 JK both ways ... o.k. seats.

I have no complaints with MH biz. I always ask for Row 1 or 2 on the smaller plane, if it's a 747, I go upperdeck. Though these days I try to upgrade to F with points.

I paid AUD$2000 for Starclass on Jetstar from SYD to HKT and that was a nightmare of a trip. Up until 3 hours before the flight I was assured that Starclass was pretty empty. When I got to the airport I found that they had upgraded to fill Starclass because economy was overbooked. I was boxed in because the person in front reclined his chair just about all the way. There were 2 empty seats behind me when I boarded but the FA said I could not move to the back. Then after the seatbelt signs were off, 2 of the FA friends moved up to Starclass from economy. I've been meaning to write a letter of complaint.

I found MH business class product on their 777 to be very good hardware (4JK and 1 JK) never tried row 5 which is mainly used by FAs unless flight is full.
Food choices are good and plenty. IFE is ok too and they have great prices for J class.
The lounge in KUL is tops

Don't mother in laws get put in the cargo hold by default?
