Star Alliance - Looking for some *A RTW guidance...

I am helping a friend out who needs to visit a lot of friends and family in a short time around xmass when seats are rare. He is a *A gold so I cannot recommend him my own OW which I know inside and out. He just started his own company so he wants it on the cheap.

I managed DXB-FRA-LHR-BOS-SFO-SYD-SIN-DXB for
Fare: AED 8650.00 (€1500)
Taxes and fees, additional charges: AED 2545.00 (€465)
Lufthansa Ticket Service Charge: AED 230.00 (€42)
Total: AED 11425.00 (€2002)

Now on OW you can save a bundle by booking with AA to reduce taxes and charges. Is there something comparable on *A?

This is apparantly a promotion economy rate (or so they tell me) for the *A RTW but I know that SQ and others in *A offer other RTW/multi stop rates. Can anyone point me in the right direction or is this already a killer deal?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dark side. Yes, there is the equivalent to ticketing on AA at *A: Ticketing through UA. This can be quite a bit cheaper so worth giving this a try. AFAIK there is not *A LHR-BOS flight so this might not work unless the SQ or CO codes work for the VS metal flight.

Here is a good overview of other RTW fares but none of them will get your friend to where he needs to go.

Thanks. The LHR-BOS is via Halifax on AC. Will there be a problem ticketing on UA when the first flight is on LH?

There shouldn't be a problem with this. Sometimes agents are pushing back a bit but you have an UA over water flight so you will be fine.
