Well WestJet should be announcing their new summer schedule within the next few months so I thought it would be fun to see where everyone thinks they're going next. Here's my ideas:

From Vancouver
-Whitehorse
-Red Deer (too close to YYC and YEG but could be successful like Abbotsford or Hamilton)
-Denver (SW connection)

From Calgary
-Seattle
-Medicine Hat
-Lethbridge
-Denver (SW connection)
-Chicago (SW connection)

From Edmonton
-Newark
-San Francisco
-Denver (SW connection)

From Toronto
-Boston
-Fredricton
-Chicago (SW connection)

Lethbridge from Calgary ? And with a Boeing? And at what frequency ?

Well I don't think there will be any Red Deer, Lethbridge or Medicine Hat routes because those markets are just too small for a Boeing 737 or the routes are too short (in terms of amount of money spent on gassing up for around 1 minute at cruise level). While travelling from Edmonton to Calgary recently, we had to divert to Lethbridge due to bad weather in Calgary and the flight back to Calgary took about 20 minutes!

I also don't think we'll see Whitehorse as a destination. One of our pilots was saying what a totally different market it is and we couldn't penetrate it at all.

As for destinations that I would like to see come up on the schedule, it would be Chicago, Denver, Washington (DC), Seattle, Portland, and of course, the return of Newark (this last one out of Calgary as well as out of Toronto).

The distance and population between Lethbridge and Calgary is not much different than Kamloops and Vancouver...

How about new nonstop from YEG-FLL or YYC-FLL?

Indeed the distance is the same....but the difference lies in the Kamloops area. Kamloops is a four season destination while Lethbridge is not.

I fly three or four times a year to Lethbridge from Winnipeg and the fares are high. I would welcome the arrival of WS in that market....but I am not holding my breath.

The daily traffic YYC-YQL on CMA and Jazz would only fiill one B738

Here's hoping for a real alliance and ff program... then I would be excited to see, of course, YKF to YUL, ORD and/or MCO(winter).

50% further, along mountain passes. Not similar at all. (225 vs 335km).

I agree. T hats more like comparing Edmonton and Calgary distance wise. Calgary to Lethbridge wont fly in a boeing.

I would love to see something going into Texas. Also EWR year round would be nice.

I would also love to see Boston.
